Gallery - Landscapes
My landscape inspired paintings are heavily influenced by my education and experience as a geologist for more than 30 years. I often use this knowledge to pick out and emphasize a particular feature and I enjoy transposing this into something abstract.
The opening painting in this group is called "Whaleback landform". Its beautiful smooth form reflects the effects of glacial erosion and contrasts strongly with the horizontal man-made road. The slightly exaggerated orange tropical soil is widespread at depth in the rock pile of eastern Iceland, as is the fog on the mountains. To me these elements are equal and produce a lasting image of the landscape in my mind.
