Blue flowers 200 X 300 cm (2017)
Blue flowers conveys a strong feeling of just that - blue flowers. There is a degree of realism in a rather vague representation of Columbine and Blue grass blooms, both of which are common in Icelandic gardens and in the wild. But also interwoven with these are microscopic features like molecules and protein spirals. Although they are not visible to our eyes, they are nevertheless there and in that sense the painting is representational. On the other hand I ignore scale and like to jumble elements to produce an abstract work which I feel reflects the complexity of the floral world and nature in general.
